After putting together this Best of 2016 post I have to say 2016 was the year of...

Maxi Skirts & Dresses
Karen Walker Starburst Sunglasses
Dark Lipstick
Floral Everything
Cozy Home Decor

I know I usually discuss my resolutions during my year end posts, but this year that's not happening. Not that I don't think I achieved my 2016 resolutions, because I definitely think I did (in short I said "no" more and I didn't let blogging take over my life, but I definitely didn't declutter my life as much as I would've liked).

Instead I wanted to touch on how happy I am with how much this blog is evolving. I think I finally honed in on exactly what I want to concentrate on (style, beauty & home decor) and stay tuned next week when you'll finally be able to see my site get a well deserved and much needed face life!!

Looking forward to everything 2017 has to offer...Happy New Year!

Red Glitter Lips | Festive Holiday NYE Makeup

I've been wanting to do a glitter lip Makeup Monday forever and now that I have I'm not quite sure what took me so long. I'm a little disappointed that these red glitter lips didn't photograph that well, but they were AMAZING. They were so sparkly and shiny and I'm not going to lie I stared at myself in the mirror A LOT. But the fact that these photos don't make this glitter lip look too intense means that they're totally wearable, especially for a big night out like NYE! So have I convinced you to try them out? Make sure to tag me in your photos if you do!

Makeup Monday NYE Red Glitter Lips Tutorial:
  1. Prep face with Garnier SkinActive Ultra-Life Miracle Wake Up Anti Fatigue Day Cream (c/o). Apply Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation with a beautyblender. Conceal under eye circles with Make Up Forever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Concealer.
  2. Apply e.l.f. Bronzer Palette (c/o) to hollows of cheeks and around hair line. Apply IT Cosmetics CC+ Radiance Ombre Blush (c/o) to apples of cheeks and blend.
  3. Apply shade 2 from e.l.f. Prism Eyeshadow Palette in Smoke (c/o) on lid and along lower lashes. Apply shade 6 to crease and blend. Apply shade 1 to highlight under brow, in inner corners and outer corners of eyes. Line upper lashes with Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Liner.  Apply 2 coats of Maybelline The Falsies Mascara. Groom and fill in brows with BH Cosmetics Ultimate Brow Palette (c/o).
  4. Set foundation with Jane Iredale Amazing Matte Loose Finish Powder (c/o).
  5. Line lips with e.l.f. Lipliner in Dark Red (c/o), followed by NARS Lipstick in Red Lizard. Top lipstick with MAC Pro Longwear Lipglass in Driven by Love, then press red glitter in gloss.

If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook then you know this suede jacket and plaid scarf have been on heavy rotation lately. They're the perfect Holiday combination for when you want to look festive, but you don't want to look too festive...you know what I mean? Sometimes I feel like I can easily overdose on cheery red clothes, but christmas tree green is a way more subtle way to get in the holiday spirit!

The addition of this red bag and these leopard booties made this the perfect outfit for a few holiday festivities during the Christmas week! If you're looking for a new pair of winter booties I highly suggest these! They come in multiple colors and patterns, the heel height is perfect! After searching for about 2 years for a leopard bootie I'm so glad I found these!

DIY Mannequin Christmas Tree

DIY Mannequin Christmas Tree

Let me give you a little back story on this Mannequin Christmas Tree. I've been pinning these christmas tree dresses for YEARS and every year I say to myself I'm going to do it and every year I don't. Well right before our annual Holiday Brunch I decided this was the year I was going to dress up my dress form mannequin for Christmas. I called my dad and asked if he could cut me some evergreen branches from the trees in his backyard and I went to Michaels to get the rest of the supplies. I fully intended for this to be a disaster and for me to give up without finishing (that's why I didn't take step-by-step photos), but it was actually the easiest thing EVER to create.

So for now enjoy photos of the prettiest and easiest Christmas decoration that you still have plenty of time to DIY for your own house. Scroll down for detailed instructions along with everything you need to make your mannequin Christmas tree and I promise next year I'll do step-by-step photos!

What you'll need:

Instructions:
  1. One by one attached each evergreen branch to your dress form using the floral pins. I started with the longer pieces and added shorter pieces on top. Don't worry too much about the shape you can trim it once it's all done. Each branch only needs one floral pin, they are very secure once they are pushed into the foam of your form.
  2. Take a large piece of burlap and wrap the top portion of your mannequin like a shawl to conceal the top of the branches. Secure it into place with floral pins.
  3. Wrap ribbon around the waist over the burlap, secure with floral pins. Add a ribbon bow, or brooch.
  4. Add your own personal touch! I added a pearl cluster necklace, but you can also add string Christmas lights or a hat or flowers!
*The one mistake I made while creating this was that I made it WAY too early in the season and I already had to take it apart because the branches were dying and the pine needles were falling everywhere and making a mess. Next year I'm going to make it way closer to the actual holiday.

But that just means that if you want to make this for yourself before Christmas you ABSOLUTELY have time to do it! I swear once you have all the supplies, the whole process takes about 15 minutes!

Happy DIYing!
