When I found out today was National Pink Day I knew I had to celebrate on the blog somehow! I was initially thinking a fun outfit post, but quickly dismissed that when I found my favorite neon pink nail polishes from a few summers ago! The only think better than a neon manicure is a neon pink manicure to kick off the first week of Summer!! And in my opinion the best way to combine multiple shades in the same color family is to ombré them!! Seriously all you need is a makeup sponge and a little bit of patience to recreate this on yourself, I swear its way easier than it looks and there's literally NO way you can mess it up!!

Sometimes you have to be practical with Summer Makeup and sometimes you have to have fun with it and this is one of those times. Blindingly bright glossy lips and a smoky cat eye paired with fun Summer earrings are exactly what you need sometimes. Most of my Summer makeup tutorials have been pretty minimal so far so I figured I'd switch it up this week with this look. Also I just got Smashbox's Full Exposure Palette and I'm of course completely obsessed, might be my favorite neutral palette I have and the quality of the shadows is top notch, but as I was putting together this post I found out they also make a travel sized version of the palette with 8 shades that is literally the size of a credit card...GENIUS!! Couldn't be more perfect for traveling, touching up at work, getting ready at the gym, etc. Such a great idea!

What should I do next? I was thinking about a bold blue eyeliner in honor of Fourth of July! I spent the weekend catching up on all my magazine reading and even though I've always been a fan of bold blue liner (see here) apparently it's on trend right now for Summer so I'm debating on bringing it back for a new Makeup Monday tutorial!!

It seems like blue is the color of the season when it comes to my nails, I swear I've painted my nails more shades of blue over the past few months then I have my entire life! Not really sure where I came up with this manicure, but I was away for the weekend and didn't have too much of a variety to work with. Of course I couldn't made my life easy and give myself a "regular" manicure, but instead I added a few black stripes and made it way cooler. Funny story...my 5 year old cousin saw my nails right after I finished them and demanded I give her the same mani! She called it her "grown up" manicure and showed literally every single person she saw over the next few days, it was so cute!

The Oversized T-Shirt Dress

ASOS Oversized T-Shirt Dress | Cognac Brown Faux Leather Jacket | Karen Walker Starburst Sunglasses | Red Lipstick | Neutral Block Heel Sandals | Casual Spring Summer Outfit | Style Fashion on Living After Midnite by Blogger Jackie Giardina

I used to not think I could pull off the whole shapeless dress trend with my pear shaped body, but after multiple dressing room disasters my closet is finally stocked with these casual, slightly oversized dresses that are perfect for my EXTREMELY casual job. Just a bit of background info...I work in a office with all men and lets just say that when I show up to work dressed in anything fancier than workout spandex I get asked about 473894298 times "Wow you're so dressed up where are you going?" I kid you not I wore flare jeans once and it was like I had an appointment to meet the president after work.

Enter the t-shirt dress...the saving grace to my super casual office environment. I wear them (& maxi dresses) all Summer at work. I mostly pair them with flat sandals and minimal jewelry, but today I kicked it up and piled on the hardware! I'm in desperate need of a jewelry clean out (my dresser is an actual disaster right now) so if you've been wondering why the same few pieces have been on heavy rotation that's why (and I'm too lazy to start the purge).

Does anyone else have an unhealthy obsession with neutral sandals? I swear I buy a couple pairs every season because they go with everything (duh...), but then the next Spring rolls around, new styles come out and I want it ALL! I surprisingly have only added one pair of neutral sandals to my closet this year, but these are all the other pairs I'm eyeing:

The Best Budge Proof Summer Makeup Routine with Rimmel London Stay Matte Foundation | Beauty Tutorial on Living After Midnite by Blogger Jackie Giardina

One of the beauty questions I get asked the most is, "How do you keep your makeup from running or smudging in the Summer?" Well today I'm here to share all of my budge proof makeup secrets! I've tried literally everything on the market...creaseless powders, high quality primers, waterproof foundations, setting sprays...literally everything, but never did I ever think a $5 product from Walmart would work the best!

I discovered Rimmel London Stay Matte Foundation about two years ago and I've been a HUGE fan ever since. It's light mousse texture is so silky smooth that you have to try it to believe it. The foundation applies flawlessly to create a natural look that stays matte and shine free for hours. This is the first time I used Rimmel London The Only 1 Lipstick and I was pleasantly surprised at the how moisturizing and long wearing it is. I often find that lipsticks claim that their long lasting are also extremely drying and this lipstick is the complete opposite.

In the Summer I tend to go for a more natural daytime look. Most days I keep my skin glowing and contoured (because who doesn't love a great bronzed and highlighted look in the Summer), my eye makeup minimal and a bold color on my lips. If you're a frequent reader to my blog you know that I like to experiment with makeup and while I may tone my look down in the Summer I still like to have fun with it. I think I've finally found the best budge proof summer makeup routine so don't let the summer heat rain on your makeup parade and kick your warm weather routine up a notch with these steps.

The Best Budge Proof Summer Makeup Routine:
  1. Prep your skin with your favorite moisturizer with SPF. Apply a pea sized drop of Rimmel London Stay Matte Foundation (I'm wearing shade 200 Soft Beige) to enter face with clean finger tips. If you tend to get oily on your t-zone dust Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder on your nose, forehead and chin with a large fluffy brush.
  2. Use Rimmel London Kate Sculpting Palette in Golden Bronze to contour and highlight face. Apply bronzer to cheekbones, hairline and jawbone. Apply blush to apples of cheeks and just above brows. Highlight cheekbones and under brows.
  3. Apply a shimmery gold shadow on lids. Curl lashes with an eyelash curler. Line waterline with Rimmel London ScandalEyes Waterproof Kohl Liner in Nude. Apply two coats of Rimmel London ScandalEyes Retro Glam Mascara (a FAVORITE) to upper and lower lashes. Fill brows with Rimmel London Brow This Way Eyebrow Sculpting Kit (I'm wearing Blonde).
  4. Finish lips with Rimmel London The Only 1 Lipstick in Listen Up.

How To Wear Neon

Neon Coral The Mint Julep Trapeze Dress | How To Wear Neon | Shop The Mint Summer Outfit | Living After Midnite by Jackie Giardina Style Blogger

I'm a pretty colorful person all year around, but in the Summer my brights get brighter and I want nothing more than to wear neon all day every day! I think the important thing to remember when wearing a statement piece like this neon coral dress from The Mint Julep Boutique is to keep all your other accessories neutral so they're not competing for the spotlight! If your neon piece is something smaller like a top or bag (or shoes or jewelry) then I would encourage you to pair it with another pop of bold color, trust me it'll look great! Neons are not hard to wear, but many adults shy away from thinking they're too juvenile. I promise when you learn how to wear neon correctly and find the perfect piece and color for you you'll never look back!

I'm not much of a dangling earring person (you can catch me most of the time in studs or crawlers), but for some reason in the Summer my urge to wear statement earrings goes up! I don't have many pairs (shocking I know), but I've had these coral beaded hoops for years and they'll always be my favorites! Looking to add a few pair of statement earrings to your collection? Here are my favorite (super affordable pairs):

Paint Splatter Manicure

I know I'm not the only one that's seen the tutorial for paint splatter nail art with a straw, well I tried that once and it turned out disastrous. Looked horrible, made a huge giant mess and looked nothing like a paint splatter. So this time around I created this paint splatter manicure by using crumpled up saran wrap. Yep just regular saran wrap that I know you have in your kitchen! Just paint your nails a light color (I went for white), then pick one of more colors to "splatter" onto your nails. Pour a little bit of polish on a plate, crumple up saran wrap, dip it in the polish, dab off the excess on a paper towel and stamp your nail. SO easy!! If you do more than one color just make sure to let the first color dry before adding the next!
