Room for Style: Time to Accessorize

Living After Midnite: Room for Style: Time to Accessorize
Accessorizing is the fun part of decorating, but it's also the hardest part of decorating! Just like in fashion you accessorize to enhance or finish an outfit, but it is also one way to show your personality.

In decorating accessorizing doesn't happen all at once, it takes time to pull a room together, it may take a while to find those "oh so perfect" items. That special rug that pulls the room together, the window treatment that warms up the room, pillow that make the couch feel homey...
Accessories can change the whole tone of the room, make it feel formal or casual and this takes a little work, you may not achieve this the first time, but don't give up.

You would be amazing where you could find those finishing touches. You don't have to spend a lot of money, but if you fall in love with an item that's a little expensive go for it, it's well worth it and you can always re-purpose accessories over time. I'm all for moving things from room to room, my family things I'm crazy!

The area rug is adding a pop of color to a fairly neutral room, carrying that pop of red in a few pillows. The drapes have added pattern and color. Then they added some subtle touches...the tray placed on the ottoman, mirror over the fireplace and a perfectly placed table lamp.

Pay attention to the details! Art work of different sizes are placed in a group on one wall, the table is dressed with an array of accessories, then add a few pillows on the chairs.

A bookcase is not just for books! Gather up all of your treasures and incorporate them with your books to get this fabulous look!

Here are some of my favorite places to accessory shop!
Home Goods / TJ Maxx / Flea Markets & Garage Sales (one woman's trash is another's treasure!)
