I get a lot of questions about how I maintain my blonde hair and since I've been blonde for about 95% of my life I think at 29 I've finally figured out exactly what works and what doesn't work! Let me start off by giving you a little bit of background on my hair. Naturally I have strawberry/dark blonde hair, but I've been dying it since I was about 12. I also have a LOT of hair, but it's not super thick. And my hair used to be very, very curly (like "Scary Spice" curly), but it's calmed down considerable in the past 7 or so years and I would describe it more as wavy.
I used to dye my own hair with box hair dye all throughout middle school, high school and college, then once one of my friends started cosmetology school I started getting it professionally done. I've been pretty much every shade of blonde on the planet (I also have been red, purple, pink, blue and a handful of other shades), but somehow my hair has always stayed in really good shape.
For years I never paid attention to what kind of shampoo, conditioner and products I was using in my hair, but after being introduced to the world of color protecting products I've never looked back. I used to use general color protecting and moisturizing products, but realized with so many great blonde specific products on the market I needed to make the switch! Dessange Paris California Blonde System is hands down my favorite collection for color-treated blondes. It is very, very easy for blonde hair to look dull and dried out (especially during the really hot or cold months), so using products that brighten and moisturize is a must! Dessange Paris's California Blonde Illuminating Shampoo
and Gel Elixer
literally works wonders on my tresses! They are not using the term "illuminating" lightly, my hair literally looks better than ever. My favorite product of the line though has to be the Brass Color Correcting Creme
! All my blonde friends know how frustrating it is when your hair turns brassy, I actually had an incident earlier in the year where my hair didn't react well to the dye we used and my hair turned yellowy orange and I nearly died, if I had this product then I wouldn't have freaked out. This weekly in-shower treatment not only leaves my hair silky smooth, but gives me that pale, icy color I love.
But you don't have to take my word for it because I'm giving away one complete set of the Dessange Paris Collection
of your choice! And don't worry if you're not a blonde, Dessange has products for ALL types of hair (the Purifying Clay Collection is another favorite!). Even if you don't happen to win my giveaway, you can find all of the Dessange Paris Collections at Target for an extremely affordable price!
