Even though the temperature feels like Summer, yesterday was officially the first day of Autumn. And the start of Fall signifies the start of the holiday season! I mean who doesn't love this time of year? The fall foliage, pumpkin flavored everything, apple picking, sweater weather, I can go on and on.
Do you and your family have any traditions during this time of year? The first thing on my list is to make my home feel nice and cozy! I pull out of the throws and add floor pillows, perfect for relaxing by the fire!
The start of Autumn signifies the start of Halloween, the first official holiday of the Holiday Season. I know what you're thinking...is Halloween really part of the Holiday Season? YES, at least in the decorating world! Halloween pumpkins easily transform into Thanksgiving leaves and turkeys which transform into Christmas trees and snow! I've always gotten really excited about Halloween, I'm sure it's mostly because I was born the day before (if you've ever wondered why my name is Wendy now you know!) and I would always have a Halloween costume birthday party!
If you have children have them get involved in the decorating. Christmas isn't the only holiday to create family traditions. When my kids were young I would bring them to the store every year to purchase a new addition to our decorating creation. Spider webs are a kid favorite and of course you have to carve a pumpkin (or two), we just had fun with it!
I know it's not ever October yet, but I always start decorating early because I want to be able to enjoy it all for more than a few days! Plus I know I'll take it all down a couple days after October 31st so I can start getting ready for Thanksgiving!
Now that you have some inspiration it's time to start spooking it up!
