Small Space Holiday Decorating | Christmas Decor for a Small Home or Apartment

It's officially The Most Wonderful Time of the Year and my favorite time of the year to decorate, but I know a lot of people have small homes and apartments and may get frustrated when it comes to decorating their small space. I'm going to show you a few non-traditional way to "deck the halls" this Holiday season that you are going to love so much you'll forget how small of a space you're working with!

Who said you have to have a 6' tall Christmas tree? A small tree can look just as fabulous! By placing a smaller tree on a table you give the tree height without needing extra space, plus you can have fun decorating around the bottom.

Don't have any room for a tabletop tree? What about a wall tree! Take all those amazing Holiday cards you receive from your loved ones (or pick up a box of assorted cards at the store) and create a wall tree. Or put up a few temporary shelves and display some of your favorite holiday decor in the shape of a tree!

Not really a Christmas tree kind of person? That doesn't mean you can't have a festive home. Instead of hanging ornaments on a tree gather your favorites and make a centerpiece with them.

Another great rustic alternation to a Christmas tree is gathering branches in a vase and decorating them with ornaments and lights. Below is a large scale version of this idea, but it works just as well with something smaller.

Want to put your creative skills to good use? Get some recycled wood and start crafting. These palette wooden Christmas trees would look great large or small, inside or outside. You can pretty much do anything you want to them to fit with your decor and they would look great.

And while this next idea might not the most practical for smaller spaces, it shows how easy it is to incorporate items you already have in your home into your holiday decor! I have a dress form just like this in my home and during Christmas I always have to move it out of the way to make room for my tree...not going to lie, I may be forgoing a tree and making this awesome fashion forward Christmas tree alternative!

There is plenty of time for you to get into the holiday decorating spirit, so get excited and get creative this year. Don't worry if you don't have the expected "traditional" look, I guarantee if you think out of the box when it comes to Holiday decorating once your friends and family see how great your home looks they'll be jealous they didn't think of it first!
